How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

Have someone else do it for you, it's easy!

Return home after work, park your car (that you use every day) outside your home in exactly the same place as you've done over the last 9 years, and wait for the *BANG* as some wonderful young man hits it head on in the early hours of the morning and spreads the bits all over road!
He manged to hit mine so hard it bounced back into the yellow car parked behind me and boune back off again. As you can see, that one had its lights punched out!

Most important thing is that nobody died.
There was no alcohol in the driver but his passenger's face is badly cut up from taking the force of the glass from their windscreen shattering.
The Jandarma were 1st class and even though the 2 lads fled the scene of the accident and hid their damaged car. Inside a couple of hours, between us, we found the lads and also the car which had been secreted away behind a Total Fuel Station.

I've now hired a Doblo for 4 days because Sally and I must be in Alanya all day Saturday and Sunday for Alanya International Christmas Fair.
The best news on that score is that there's no rain forcaste so we'll have a super couple of days out.

Nothing is ever perfect but we mustn't let the b*stds get as down.

Oh no.
You still seem to be in good spirits, long may that continue. I hope that the Alanya market is a great success for you

Re: How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

I just thought, if there was no alcohol involved, does that mean that they had been doing drugs or looking at something on their phones? I can't see how you would of hit a stationary car so hard otherwise

Re: How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

I don't know if they'd been using drugs but I saw the driver's blood test results. It only showed 0.23 alcohol, that's nothing, you'd read higher than that if you had a good sherry trifle or tiramasu.
Their insurance company are refusing to pay out at the moment because a). They fled the scene of the accident b) didn't report the accident and c) hid their damaged car behind the garage and called a taxi to take them to the hospital.

These lads obviously thought they wouldn't be found.
Fortunately I have an exceptionally observant neighbour who lives on the corner of our 1st floor. She heard the bang, saw the red car go off up the street and equally saw it come back to rummage through the bits all over the road to find their number plate.
She came to my door in a right tizz wazz and I went to look from her balcony. I'd been watching TV and hadn't even heard the bump!
Called the Jandarma, they are literally across the green from where I live and having called all the hospitals,it wasn't too long before Manavgat Devlet called them back about 2 young men having arrived, one with facial injuries from a car accident.
It's all most likely going to end up in court if their insurance stand by their refusal to pay out and get things sorted but like I said........At least nobody died. I should hate for any parent to lose a child under those sort of circumstances.

Next week onwards will start to prove more difficult I guess? That's putting it mildly because I've had various cars since I started driving 54yrs ago and you kind of get used to it being there. Don't you?
There's nothing else I can do about it yet so...............let's just get over to Alanya and have a great next couple of days. Life's too short and at the end of the day..............it's a car!!

Re: How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

Sorry to hear your bad news, but, as you say no-one was hurt and you had not loaded it up with goodies for the fair. I think the neighbour deserves a nice cake for her help.

Wow that's some smash.
Good luck with the Christmas market. Check out Alanya strays if you get a chance. They will have a stall there.

Re: How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

How can the insurance company refuse to pay? They either insured the lad who was driving or they didn't. As it seems they did, then there should be no problem. However, this is Turkey! Coming back for their numberplate? You couldn't make it up.

In the UK, they would be really caned for leaving the scene of an accident without reporting it in an effort to avoid detection. I suppose this does not apply in Turkey?

You do seem very philosophical about this. I would be steaming!

Re: How to reduce your Carbon Footprint!!

The insurance company must pay for third party damage. It is the law, what does your insurance company say?
