Pools again

Hi to you all.
Having read many of the articles posted on here I thought it was about time I joined, so guys n gals this is my first post.

Having read on here the various methods of keeping the pool useable during the summer, I am confused. If I recall correctly someone mentioned a 3 - 1 tablet which was placed in the "Skimmer Basket" every 10 days.
My questions are: Is the skimmer basket the plastic cover over the filter?
What is the name of these tablets?
We live in Yesiltepe and so far my search in Didim has proved fruitless.
Can anyone please tell of a supplier locally to me.

Re: Pools again

Hello Boxer Lover..3 in 1 tablets contain chlorine, acid and algecide. Normaly the tablet is placed in the skimmer or in the pool pump filter/strainer. Depending on your type of pool, the skimmers are visble at the top, at the edge of the pool. Normally there are two skimmers. These are accessed by plastic covers on the paving around the pool. Overflow pools do not have skimmers as the water overflows into a separate tank and then water recirculated by the pump.
The number of tablets that you require and the frequency can only be determined by testing the water. Get sme test strips off Ebay, balance the water with chlorine granules for sanitisation and acid to adjust PH levels, then maintain balance with tablets. Ten days for one tablet seems a bit long normally one or two tablets perweek should keep things OK. But yo must test at least once per week to determne the number of tablets required.
Not sure where you are but most pool shops will sell them.
Hope this helps.

Hi Boxer Lover and welcome to the forum, enjoy.
If you don't get the answers on here, there are no answers.
I cannot help in any way as I do not have the first clue about a pool but I see you have got answers already so that is good. Hope you get what you need for your pool.

Re: Pools again

Hi

We have used a floatron in our pool for the last two years with great success. The floatron ionises the water and stops algea, therefore only 5% chemicals need to be used. if interested look up on web floatron.co.uk. During the winter the pool was left for 8 weeks with floatron in and no chemicals, a backwash and pump running for few hours, pool was back to normal.

We took ours over in our hand luggage as at the time turkey didn't have distribution franchise. i think you can now get them in turkey. Hope this helps.

Re: Pools again

Welcome,

We use one talet a week when not in huge use and have the Pool Wizard in the basket which seriously reduces number of tablets to a 1/3 or 1/2 of the normal use and is far cheaper than the Floatron, which I was previously interested in until I found the PW.

But the Floatron does use less actual chemical in the long run, just not cost effective for the amount of times we pop over.
