Paying for Title Deeds

Ihave just had a note from our estate agent about paying for the title deeds. The price £1000 approx. seems a bit steep to me and we was not expecting this? I have read somewhere on a forum about this and cannot find it. Not sure if it is on this forum or another one that I have been looking at. But I am sure the prices they were quoting where no where near this much. Also I did read that it only applied to Property purchased after November. Does anyone know anything about this subject.

you should ask for a breakdown, I have also been told that the councils are demanding more money to provide maps for military clearance (sounds more like a hidden tax to me)

Maybe the estate agents can enlighten us to this concerned charge. Quite frightening.

What does it mean property purchased after November. The amount agreed and say in September, if you weren't going out until May the estate agent might not have been in a hurry before then, regardless of contract and monies sent. They may have done the Military checks a few months later after November.

Then who should pay this?

Sorry to hear you got unexpected large bill. What a shame after we were just celebrating your tapu coming thru.

As Mushtaq says, get a breakdown of costs.

It could include -
-property purchase tax which I think is 3% of the value declared on tapu. Can someone tell us if the buyer pays all of this or is it split between buyer and seller?
-did you already pay for your maps? we paid 90 mill oldTL (about £35) but since then they have asked for more detailed maps so price might be more.
-does it include fee for changing water and elec to your name?
-compulsory govt earthquake insurance
-then there's the new fixed municipality fee, new tax that depends on your area - this is the one that Heidi said doesn't apply if the military permissions were applied for before Nov. It was talked about here
http://www.turkishestateagents.com/...509&whichpage=4

and on Calis beach forum here
http://www.calis-beach.co.uk/forum/...p?TOPIC_ID=4032

did I forget any other charges that might be included?

best wishes
Lynn

I have read that the Turkish Government are starting to charge for the Tapu, but was on the understanding from another forum that this was brought in in November and did not apply to property brought before this time, but I cannot find where i read this.

As for our payment we have also got to pay as well as the approx £1000

400 FOR WATER AND ELECTRIC
3% ESTATE AGENCY FEE
40 FOR POWER OF ATTORNEY
80 FOR SIGNING TITLE DEEDS WITH EGLISH TRANSLATOR

In th beginning the estate agents gave a break down of everything we had to pay including when we have to pay it. The above is all the things we expected plus there was a commerce tax of est 705. Which he hasn't asked for, so I am hoping that this is part of the £1000 that we have to pay.

I was editing my post as you wrote, so maybe you didn't see the links above where we talked about the new tax.

£400 for water & elec sounds expensive? - we were quoted about £50 - 60 to have them changed to our name (not sure if that is for one or both)
