Re: Council/Building Tax

Hi

Another thing I have just thought about if we have to pay twice, is it right that we should be getting charged twice for registering the property as this is what is on each bill too.
The bill I have put above is only my husbands, I have exactly the same again which means paying twice for registering the appartment.

help, help, help

We have both names on our tapu and we each pay a bill at the local belediyesi office. I believe that 2 names works out marginally higher than one but it is not a huge difference. Both our bills are identical and we were late one year and did get a 1ytl fine - each!

Perhaps the registering property is divided into 2 and you are each paying your half? Just a thought, although I do not think we paid for that with our tax payment.

Our council tax we just paid while on holiday in Akbuk. We have both names on Tapu so pay 2 times which is not much, something like 30 Turkish Lira. We will not be going back to Akbuk til next year, we just pop and pay whatever bills when out on holiday. Fines if any have been tiny.

You should not pay twice for registering your place. We paid once, one bill as far as I can remember

teresa, divided in 2 ..........that seems comical to me when ,you know that if your husband dies the woman is not deemed to own half the house ! (unless you have made a watertight will of course) they do seem to contradict themselves alot .

We have made a will but I doubt very much it is watertight, this is Turkey. The best I can hope for is to die first

Our tax for last year was 21.12ytl each.

Re: Council/Building Tax

Well lady's & gent's here we go, went to the council argued with them, then went to a lawyer only to be told that it was correct and that I had to pay both bills, which cost me 620 ytl from 2005 to 2008.

Please please listen and tell every one that buys, that they have to make sure that they understand that you have to go to the council within the first month of the date that is on their Tapu and register, and that it is only if it is a new build you get the first year free.
If you do not go to register within the first month of the date that is on the Tapu, that's when the fines etc start.

Well this is what happened to us today and according to the lawyer it is correct.
Also it is definately 2 bills which have exactly the same on them and you have to pay both & that includes 2 registrations.

Hope this helps clear some issues.
Edwina

Ps thanks for advice today abla

Hi

Yes this is correct, but you have to make sure you register with the council, there will be a date on your Tapu & you have a month from that date to register or you will be fined.

Please do not forget to register within the month, it's a
