We, like many British and Scottish investors, bought our apartment in Altinkum in the hope of earning extra rental income during the winter months. However, be warned!
We were introduced to a Scottish woman from Aberdeen who had been resident in Altinkum for some years and has worked variously for bars, restaurants and travel agencies. We believed she was trustworthy.
We did not expect to earn an incredible amount of money but we did expect to get the rent if it was actually rented. This lady convinced us she was genuine and she would look after our apartment for us but this was not the case as we discovered to our cost.
During last winter, unbeknown to us, she let the apartment to both foreigners and local Turkish residents. We emailed her several times to get information but all contact with her was completely ignored.
We were informed of all the comings and goings by our watchful neighbours in our block.
When confronted, she paid us one week’s rent but has to date not yet paid for outstanding breakages and continues to ignore emails. We know that she has also done this to one other british person.
The point we wish to make is that other people should not fall for the charms of this character as she will rip you off as she did with us. We wish to prevent others from suffering the same fate that has befallen us
