Coeliac Sufferers

My wife Jean is a Coeliac sufferer and depends on Gluton Free products, bread etc.,

Can anyone, perhaps with this similar condition, confirm if these products can be purchased from local supermarkets.

We would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

Have alook in the search thread Ian, as this has come up before
so you may find something of interest there.

You can buy them in Migros because I happened to notice the gluten free museli and flour today along with other products.

Ian,

I'm coeliac. You can buy the basics such as bread and pasta but not much of a selection. Haven't seen any biscuits, crackers or other nibbles and forget about sausages. We find it easier to just bring our own favourite treats. There's a card that you can print out, written in Turkish, explaining about the allergy that we show to the waiter when we eat out.

Thanks Andy and Teresa for responding so quickly; couldn`t find anything in the Search facility Andy but Teresa `came up with the goods` and avoided a bit of head scratching. Thanks again to both of you.

Cheery!

My Aunt was a coeliac sufferer so for any food such as sausages, beef burgers and even pies, ask my son Greg the Sausage King he will do anything to help you especially having past experience of this problem.

Try this thread Ian http://www.turkishliving.com/forums...e-products.html

Others have spelt it with an E as in GLUTEN.

There are other threads there so browse away
i'm sure all the answers are there somewhere.

Does Greg make gluten-free sausages? Great if he does, and suggest he puts it in any advertising literature.

Thanks Maria - I may approach the Sausage King to see if he can produce something; I`m sure I read something in one of the Threads where he mentioned making things to meet with dietry requirements.

Jean has offered to bring you anything you need when we come out to Akbuk in June. Just PM us with the details.

Cheery!

Re: Coeliac Sufferers

Thanks for the offer, Ian, but I don't live in Turkey so we normally just bring what we need for the holiday. The little card is a godsend. I printed out lots of copies and left some in the Turkish house. I have only been diagnosed fairly recently so it's a mixed blessing for me - I have tasted the delicious Turkish bread, borek, gozleme, etc. but now I know what I'm missing.
