The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Turkey’s biggest cycling event is ready to hit the road for the 46th time. The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey, or TUR, as organizers prefer to call it, will start Sunday in Istanbul and head south Monday, ending up in Alanya.

Re: The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

We got caught up in this in Bodrum 2 years ago,the Cyclist were coming into the town about 4 o'clock pm it was bedlem so it's a good idea to avoid Bodrum in the afternoon of the 12th, and the next day when they all leave for Marmaris, after saying that we enjoyed it,it was unexpected TV, big screens the lot.

Re: The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Very good advice Ray
in fact having just travelled Bodrum-Izmir and Bodrum-Fethiye in this last week, I would say try to keep off the roads for that day!
There a more than a few places , particularly on both sides of Bodrum airport, where the road is down to single lane while they do major works on the other lanes, so traffic will have to be pulled OFF!
I just wonder how the cyclists will manage the road surfaces as there are some really rough patches. Hope they come out safely.

But still - looking forward to it!

I was also wondering how on earth the cyclists would manage on the absolutely appalling road surfaces around the Bodrum area????!!!!!

Re: The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Thanks for the info C.

Why don't we all try to take pics of the cyclists as they pass through our individual locations?

We have members from so many different locations I'm sure we could manage most of the route,

Anyone interested?
(or am I just being a bore?)

Charlotte

Re: The Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

hmm...... wasn't there a tour of Turkey last year or the year before, or is this the same ?

Sorry folks, but I still think the tour de France is THE cycling event of the year and nothing can compete with it.....
