Re: staffordshire bull terrier

Just to add, if a dog is refused entry, unlike humans it will not be put on the first flight back to the UK. Its not all carriers that actually carry dogs in the hold, nor would the allow the dog in the cabin. The dog would be impounded at a cost.

We did contemplate taking the dog via road, with the thought of getting the vets certificate done in Greece. If as OP has stated that Staffies are on the list, then take heed, the dog will not be allowed in, you & the dog will leave yourself open to bucket loads of stress.

Re: staffordshire bull terrier

You will need to get an Export Certificate via DEFRA who actually send it electronically to your vet, providing said vet is authorised to sign and date the certificate.
I bring my dog in every year, retriever cross, and so far nobody at the border seem remotely interested in the fact that a dog is sitting in the rear of the car! Never been asked for any paperwork either.
I know I get the dog looked at the day before we leave but I was unaware of a time limit to arrive in Turkey, perhaps I have just been lucky.
Can't help you with the breed of your dog, perhaps they would notice that, good luck.

Re: staffordshire bull terrier

We flapped & had a bit of panic stations.
We attended our daughters wedding here on the Saturday after driving back from Turkey, or son was due to fly out with the dog on Tuesday whilst the wife & I drove back. We kennelled the dog for the day of the wedding & he picked up "kennel cough". So there we were, dog due to see the vet Monday, tickets paid for the flight & the dog with this unbefitting squeaky cough, when an EBT barks...…..there's NO squeak about it.
Went down to the kennels (livid), woman said its no big deal & told us to go and buy a bottle of Veno's from the chemists...…...we did & it worked.
So if ever anyone's dog starts coughing, never mind the vets, Veno's.

Re: staffordshire bull terrier

In SA we used to rescue bull terriers from fighting pits in the townships and we always had a few around the house awaiting rehousing. Nary a problem and mixed well with our other animals - just watch out for your shoes & bakkie mud flaps!

Great hearts & home security but not particularly bright.

On one occasion I had been traveling for a few months and on returning home they wouldn't let me back in

PS: Our household staff called them Chinese flying pigs!

There's a load of things in Turkey that they have issues with & make laws accordingly. The problem is, they struggle to implement them or customs know FA about said laws.
My worries over a dog being refused entry is...……...the dog. It will be impounded (without the owner). Feed/water? That would be my worry.
Our fella did more damage with wagging his tail than anything, never a problem with other dogs unless they tried it on with him. We did feel that strays etc would freeze when they saw him & have a "WTF is that" type of attitude. Most Turks gave him a wide birth.

We lost the fella when we got burgled, we were out & he got stabbed but we know he did his job. The broom which they tried to defend themselves with was ripped to shreds. There was blood about & it wasn't our fellas, anyway, thanks to the dog the bandits missed a few grand.

I will say this, if you're a good dog owner, you owe it to the dog to make sure he's not impounded.
Only a thought but if you do drive it & there's a problem, you can just turn around at the border with the dog, coming in via a flight you couldn't do that.
