Speaking Turkish-outside of Turkey

So I am sitting in a pub in Valencia and getting to know the staff. Ask one of them the usual stuff, are you from the town, have you worked here long etc- then it dawns on me I am rambling away in my awful Turkish-and the staff members answering me in Turkish too!!!!

Turns out her daughter is married to a Turk and she has a good grasp of the lingo!! So don't ever assume your Turkish is only useful in Turkey itself!!!

Re: Speaking Turkish-outside of Turkey

We had a mechanic fix our gearbox in Albania about 20 years ago, the only way we could communicate was in Turkish, his grandmother was a Turk. Got a good discount too!
