I was checking out who 'Acromas Insurance companies ltd' are, they are the 'company' name who SAGA insures through now, according to my home insurance renewal confirmation......... Oh & they're based in one of the Tax Havens.........

"Saga owns the Gibralter-registered Acromas Insurance Company Limited and underwrites for brands including Saga Services Limited, AA Insurance Services Limited and AA Ireland Limited, and owns brands Direct Choice, Taylor Price and motorbike broker Bennetts."

"RBS Group – the Royal Bank of Scotland Group includes our old friends Direct Line, plus Churchill, Privilege, NIG, Green Flag, and all of the below trading names!"

Considering the amount of Tax-payers money RBS has benefitted from, maybe they should be giving us Preferential Rates as Investors LOL .......

Re: car insurance

I believe only Saga cover you for Turkey. I tried everyone in the UK with no joy. As I'm not retired, I cannot use saga.

Just purchase at the Turkish border. Insurance office is open 24hours a day. Around 260tl for six months. Last time anyway.
That's around 58. Only third party though I'm afraid

When I turned 50 Saga were the best thing since sliced bread.
When I turned 60 saga very rarely wanted to know about insuring me even on my home insurance and I then and still feel they are not even worth bothering to get a quote from 'unless I just happen to feel like having a laugh at the astronomical quote they will produce.

But don't forget you don't have to be retired to use Saga, just that the main benefits are when you are aged between 50 & 60.

After lots of research, I found that MoneySuperMarket - Helping You Make The Most Of Your Money gave the best prices for insurance of any description.

Re: car insurance

Going off-track slightly but I just had reasonable Multi Trip TRAVEL insurance with LV which was also for up-to 90 days travel and excluding Pre existing medical conditions 123.22 not one of the cheapest but worth it for the 90 day cover.

Re: car insurance

OldFogy - that's very expensive in my book - we only paid 54 each for 3 months travel and health insurance for our next trip to Side, Turkey and we are 64 and 67 years old with no medical conditions. That was via moneysupermarket.com

Re: car insurance

That was for a 12 month policy but what hikes up the price is both my age plus the existing medical conditions.
With Staysure last year it was only 59.98

EDIT:
But I just remembered another benefit with having a HSBC PREMIER account is free travel insurance with existing medical conditions excluded until the age of 70.
