i have also looked at aviva but their foreign insurance policy does not include turkey.on their site it says if you want insurance for other countries you must call the number provided.what i,d like to know is if i bought their insurance for turkey will it really be vaild in turkey from turkish point of view or do i still have to buy turkish insurance at the border and for how much.is the insurance sold at the border any good or there would be lots of ifs and buts if you want to make a claim.
please elaborate
cheers.

Re: car insurance

What you need to ask your insurance company to issue you with green card insurance for Turkey. The document they issue is green in colour.

Re: car insurance

I used SAGA on three occasions. Had no problem at all and the green card was free. I even claimed on a broken windscreen, which was fixed in Izmir, no issues with the claim.

Re: car insurance

I gave SAGA the dates and duration of my visit, the countries I was driving through, including Turkey, and it covered the whole trip.
(and thinking about my age, the 60 bit was irrelevant. I first drove over with SAGA when I was 57.)

Re: car insurance

ok
just found out that I lost al my no bonus claims because I had not been insured for over two years.luckily as I was with direct line insurance before they will accept my no calaim bonus .so I had no choice but to insure with them.on the down side they will not insure me for turkey for love nor money.
what are my options now?just drive up to the border and buy on the spot?
how long do they insure you for?how reliable are they and how much will it cost?

Re: car insurance

You have 14 days in which to cancel insurance. Use the time to get an insurance policy through a broker; not a 'one size fits all firm'. Saga insurance are known to me for not paying out.
