We always stay at the Hotel El Blanco which is only a 5-minute walk from the Blue Mosque. It is a really cute little place with wonderful food - which you get 10% off if you stay there - and lovely rooms - only 12 rooms there though, so book early. Here is their website ... El Blanco Hotel ... and only 17 per person per night bed and breakfast ... you can book here ... https://www.agoda.com/pages/agoda/de...k=636506135915 x Angela in Side, Turkey x

Re: Recommendations for Istanbul Hotel?

If it helps, I came across this hotel last year from TLF but never stayed there so can't comment except it had a lot of people recommending it.

As you like Istanbul I came across a thread on TLF praising this hotel with its FREE pickup and drop-off service from Ataturk AP.

Welcome to Basileus Hotel - Basileus Hotel

I know this is an old post but was wondering if anyone could recommend any hotels in Istanbul as my husband and me would like to spend a few days there next year on the way to Antalya.

Re: Recommendations for Istanbul Hotel?

Why stay in Antalya? The last time I was there on Konyaalti Beach, both my feet bled - and I was not the only one - the sand is not sand but very sharp shingle - everyone who went in the sea there came out with bleeding feet. No wonder the local Turks are cashing in on the jelly shoes they sell there now. Silly me, I thought I would not need them ... but I should have bought a pair.

If you do go to Antalya - stay in Kaleici, their Old Town Antalya - a very pretty place with heaps of character. I can recommend the White Garden Hotel in Kaleici - pronounced Kal-Ee-Chee - 50 US Dollars per night = 39.01 for 2 people sharing - IN on 1st May 2020 and OUT on 2nd May 2020 - and the breakfast there is outstanding - https://www.tripadvisor.com.tr/Hotel...ean_Coast.html

Side - pronounced See-Day - is where I live... it's one hour from Antalya and has the longest promenade in the Mediterranean, the 2nd longest SANDY beach in Turkey, the Apollo Temple where Anthony and Cleopatra fell in love down by the pretty little harbour, a Saturday market for great bargains but do pay in TL and haggle haggle haggle for the best price. Here are some photos of Side ... https://www.google.com/search?sxsrf=...w=1273&bih=697 ... AND there are lots of interesting day trips available. I have been on them all over the 13 years I've lived in Side and my favourite is the white water rafting which is good for all ages and abilities... see here ... https://www.sidedailytours.com/en/to...s/raftingcanoe

If you come to Side, send me a Private Message and we can meet up if you like?

All best wishes, and God bless you, Angela x

Re: Recommendations for Istanbul Hotel?

I'm surprised no one here has mentioned AirBnB for places to stay. The other upside to being relatively cheap, is that you get to interact with the hosts & learn about the culture.

Hope that helps.

ok...back to the grind...
