Business Registration and KDV tax

Hi All,

Sorry if I can't find the thread but as a villa owner in Kalkan we are worried sick about this new law re registering as a business and having to pay 18% of our meagre rental income to the government. Has anyone anything to say on this? Our manager is being non-committal and from what I can understand he isn't registered - is the rule just for certain businesses? We just can't see how it is going to work - before you all leap in, we have read the KTLN article and also 2blacklion info on their website.

Lots of information on the TLF rental thread but gone quiet of late.

Re: Business Registration and KDV tax

If you are paying 18% at least you are keeping 82%.

The 18% will go towards some of the infrastructure that you use in Turkey. If you are a basic-rate UK taxpayer you will still be liable for a further 2%.
On the bonus side; if you have a loan/mortgage on a holiday let you will be able to claim tax relief on the interest.
