Re: Turkish living

We've still not seen rain. But we did feel the earthquakes. No problems caused in our area luckily. Don't know if it was stronger elsewhere. It may be brewing for a larger one who knows. I'm wondering if the lack of rain adds to the underground rumblings we're getting.

I think the electric bills are quarterly. You are best to set up a direct debit to pay, as the bill is a long piece of paper like a supermarket receipt, that the person reading the meter leaves somewhere near the meter. For us that can be in the meter cupboard, under the doormat, tucked in the fly screen etc, which means that you don't always find it. We have found the bill blowing around the garden before.
I am not sure about the water. On our site it is included in our site fees.
Be prepared for both electric & water cuts

I hope not. I felt both the earthquakes in Cenger, nr Manavgat & really didn't like them. When I checked the earthquake maps it looks like we were just outside the circles marked, so only felt a very minor bit of the quake.
I was still in bed yesterday morning, but my husband had gone off cycling to get fresh simmits for breakfast . I was beginning to worry about him when he had been gone for a long time. When he got back, he hadn't even felt the earthquake.

Hi Dereklamplugh The bills come once a month. The best way is D/debit if you have 3 you are not charged this last bill is 77.20 electric -water 20.99 . We do not use air con ,only the ceiling fans with the windows and doors open 24/7.

Re: Turkish living

RAIN..... finally got some during the early hours. The loudest thunder cracks I've ever heard. The house literally shook so wasn't sure if another bigger earthquake had started. Everything looks cleaner and brighter and at last I can actually see the mountains at the back clearly. The sea is relatively calm considering. Hoping for more to come. Still hot though.
Anyone else get a good dose of rain?

We stopped in a hotel in Alanya last night & had a thunderstorm there. We have just got back to our villa in Cenger, Manavgat and there are puddles around, so I guess it also rained here.

Re: Turkish living

We still have lots of Russian visitors and Turkish people here on holiday. The Turks love this area. So do I.
