Re: Saffron

Garam Masala ( adapted from Madhur Jaffrey)

You can grind these in a pestle and Mortar but an electric coffee grinder works a treat.
2 x 5cm pieces of Cinnamon (Tarçın)
1 teaspoon of cumin seeds (kimyon)
1 teaspoon of whole cloves (Karanfil)
1teaspoon of Black peppercorns (Kara Biber)
1 Tablespoon of Cardamom seeds (Kakule) (seeds taken out from cardamom pods) *
¼ Nutmeg (Küçük Hindistan cevizi)
Grind together and store in a small airtight jar. Will keep for a few months in a cupboard.
*You cannot buy just the seeds here in Turkey. This is about the only thing that I bring out from Asian shops in the UK.
