Re: Saffron

As far as I know there is no limit, but, as with everything else, commercial quantities will require a licence. we always bring Iranian saffron from the Middle East, but only enough for personal use.

No I don't my last few batches have been brought over by friends visiting and they would not accept payment. I have always believed that good Iranian saffron is the same price per gramme as gold. So good luck!

Re: Saffron

You really cannot compare the Turkish saffron with the Iranian for cooking. I bought some Turkish saffron once, cooked one meal with it and threw it out. Iranian saffron is the best and well worth every penny if you use it properly. I have just had a stunning saffron Chicken korma tonight.

If you have a coffee grinder you can mix your own from whole spices. the only thing I use as a powder tend to be an equal mix of coriander seeds and cumin seeds, roasted and ground. Together with whole spices cardamom cloves, cinnamon and mustard seeds you can cook most curries. We also make our own garam masala. lket me know if you want any recipes. We make our own chili powder from red peppers grown in the garden and dried.
