Drive to Turkey 2020

Hi, can anyone advise the safest/easiest route to Turkey overland (no ferries)
We'd be bringing a small dog. Anyone done it lately? any coronavirus issues in countries that might cause probs?
Thanks in advance.

I don't know the route......but don't listen to anyone on here that tells you to go via Barnard Castle.

Galley, there have been extensive threads on this, I suggest you have a go on the search button with the same words as your thread but without 2020, enjoy your trip.

Re: Drive to Turkey 2020

I picked the brains of 35+chips a time ago as he has done the trip several times but I think he favours using a ferry.
Suggest sending him a PM cos he was very informative.
Failing that, I have a friend and former neighbour who did an entire overland road trip with a trailer and small boat attached to his car. He might still recall his experiences.
I have never done the road trip but want to do It, so good luck.

Re: Drive to Turkey 2020

Hi Gally

My husband drove to Turkey from Glasgow on 5 June. He went Harwich to Rotterdam, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria and then on to Turkey - all without a hitch. Chose to go Rotterdam route at that time because we were not sure if France's borders would be open. The benefit of this was an overnight on the ferry therefore a good night's sleep and then he stayed overnight in Vienna thereafter straight on to Turkey stopping for shut eye for the odd couple of hours. He is Turkish so there was no problem entering at the Turkish border which there would have been for me at that time - they would not have let me in. However very soon there will not be that issue either for you.
