Mandalina

this year my mandalina trees are so full of fruit i just don't know what to do with them, I have made marmalade, mandarin cake, mandarin juice, i have frozen some to use in the summer, but now i'm stuck and I really don't want to waste them but the season is coming to and end and there are still tons left. I cannot give anymore away as everyone here now is in madalina overload. Any suggestions please?

Re: Mandalina

Hi Babsgood, Please make more marmalade. I will certainly buy at least 10 jars from you as hubby and I will be out in March and hope to stay for 6 months.

If you still have fruit left and cannot use it up, why not bring it to the mosque and ask if it would be useful to distribute to families in need.

Re: Mandalina

samimi, I have just found some jars so will make some more marmalade. get in touch when you come over and we'll sort something out. i have frozen loads of mandalinas so if you can get your hands on some jars when you come over I will give you the mandalinas and the recipe and you can have a go yourself (if you fancy it) its only mandarins sugar water and one lemon.....easy peasy!

CJD if there was a brewery shop anywhere in the bodrum area then I would definately be making wine, anyone know of a shop selling brewery stuff??

Re: Mandalina

babsgood, you are a sweetheart! Yes, I have some jars. I have a fruit tree which will mature in March. I think the name is "louqot. My Turkish neighbour tells me they are delicious. You are very welcome to them. I'm sure jam can be made from them too. Looking forward to meeting you in March.

Re: Mandalina

Samimi, no probs with the marmalade! the louqot sounds interesting, you can get kumquat trees here so maybe louqot is the Turkish name, i'll have to have a look, whatever it is i'm sure i'll be able to do something with them!. When you come over, we will have to meet up for a drink (assuming you like a little drinkie now and again!) recently met up with London Girl from this forum, its nice to put faces to names.
