Help to identify this plant/fruit

Find below a couple of pictures of a shrub and the fruit it bears. Everyday during the last couple of months I have watched turkish people pick the `fruits` From what I can gather it is used in salads (I think). The `fruits` were about 2-3 inches long.

Questions....
1. What is it?
2. How is it used?
3. What is it called?

Re: Help to identify this plant/fruit

İt looks like a caper bush, and they are the flower buds - Caper berries - sold as.
The phot is not close enough to see if there are any flowers- but are they quite showy with the stamens coming right out of the petals?

Re: Help to identify this plant/fruit

I love Capers, Gherkins (cornichons) in salads, and I thought Caper, and then thought, it looks too big, but then when they've been pickled and marinated etc, suppose they do shrivel somewhat.

I have to admit, I've never come across them here in the UK, and go on lots of walks in the countryside with my dog Monty. Managed to pick loads of Blackberries this year, froze most of them and actually made some jam which I was very pleased with myself for trying, it's a bit runny, but for a first shot it's ok.

I will do when back put next year, I think the one in the picture is probably the seed pod after flowering as opposed to the flower bud, as it was filled with seeds when I cut it open ??
