Question Flour....

Perhaps someone who lives in Turkey can explain where they purchase Self Raising Flour from?

All I ever see in Tansas and Migros is plain flour?

Re: Flour....

Not sure, 'cos I think you have to use plain and add baking powder which is widely available. I know 'cos I used it to clean a toilet, and that's another story!

Talking Re: Flour....

Nothing wonderful about it really. If you have a stained toilet bowl, use baking powder and a slighty damp cloth and elbow grease. Can also stick some up under the lip of seat and leave for a while, should come up nicely, repeat if necessary.
Tried it on a toilet in Marmaris and it worked.

Re: Flour....

there are some types of flour (un)with karbonat toz (bicarb)already in. its sold as flour for making kek (cake) otherwise you have to add the rising agent yourself...there are loads of different types of flour as you already know.
its interesting to see how turkish women make cake..they use oil or a mix of oil or margarine..they call oil sıvı yağ. (liquid fat)
Un is plain flour
nişasta is starch
mısır un.. cornflour

Is this self-raising flour? Excuse my ignorance, but I have been asked to find SR by someone who can not find it and, as someone that has never made pastry, I was sure the answer would be here. Having read the thread, I don't know if it was answered (I'm not even sure I understand the question).

If so is it available in all shops or is it a specialist item here?
