Humus

Just went shopping yesterday and a guy next to me mentioned Humus while l was bagging the groceries.l had no idea what he was on about and just replied back.

No it is a chicken..Not surprising he gave me a funny look.so l got back and found this recipe on how to make Humus.
Now l understand what he was on about when he looked at my groceries.

Here is the link to the humus recipe

Only Turkish Food: Hummus (Humus, Tahini Chickpea Dip)

Re: Humus

I love hummus - it's really versatile as you can flavour it with other things...lemon and coriander, chillies, anything really. Eat it with flat bread, pitta, crisps, tortilla chips, or crudites. Fab on a hot baked potato with some salad. Easy to make but be warned - the first time I made it I ended up with so much we couldn't eat it all before it went off. Just make sure you look at the volume of ingreients in case you need to halve them. Happy eating!

Re: Humus

roasted red pepper is good too, if you make too much freeze it, just thaw out and give it a good old mix and it should be fine

Re: Humus

I love humous too. As Spyrogal says you can add any flavours you fancy. One of my favourite variations is adding beetroot (just boiled, not pickled), browned onion and cumin seeds. Yum!

Re: Humus

Caramelised onion is nice too, but as someone else said watch your quantities or you will end up with mountains of the stuff.

Bob, you always cheer me up with your posts, lol. I eat a lot of Hoummos, the roasted red pepper one is delicious, I lightly toast Pitta Bread cut it into soldiers and dips away, great for Lunch time snack and good for you too.

Re: Humus

Mmm, love homous!

Hope you try it Bob, it's yummy.

I often add lemon, garlic, cumin and onions and coriander to mine, similar to Morrocan style homous.

Re: Humus

Bob, if you liked Houmous then you may like Taramasalata - its one of those love it or hate it foods - I love it - not sure if you can buy it in Turkey though. x
