New Turkish Cookery Programme

Top chef Allegra McEvedy on Turkey's fantastic food...

Turkish Delights with Allegra McEvedy - Outline Productions

I caught this programme last Sunday night-i really recommend it.

Although i live a normal Turkish life in Antalya with Him Indoors, i am currently in the UK, so watching this is really a taste of home for me.

The chef, Allegra McEvedy also includes little road trip type visits to parts of Turkey-it's just a fabulous little cookery show. This week she visited Istanbul and cooked up an amazing Guvec as well as some Gozleme which is a personal favourite of mine...

Catch it every Sunday night at 10pm on Sky Good Food HD channel 247.

Let me know what you think of it...

Re: New Turkish Cookery Programme

Well there you go just being reading a lovely cookery book on Turkey that gives the names of the stuff in Turkish and the text in English. Yummy pics and what things could be used instead and Cooks tips. I am so looking forward to coming ovber again in October and Dec as my friend is going to help me start cooking again after a bad accident that leaves it difficult to multitask, ie remember to put the food in the cooker! She says she is going to bake some things for and with me to keep in the freezer for Dec and asked me can you get flour and stuff etc same as here. I said yes... but now I think I am wrong and it is like rice flour or something.... I think she is planning to make me a lovely fruit case for Xmas so any suggestions. Actually I am looking forward to it all now as I was a very good and experimental chef, esp good on cupboard suprizes!!!

Re: New Turkish Cookery Programme

So are you coming over to Turkey in Oct and Dec? Dec is always a sad month for me cos i know back home everyone is getting festive whereas in Turkey it's business as usual!

You would be surprised how quickly you will learn ingredients and food stuffs in Turkish..in fact thats what i first learnt as i went out and about in my neighbourhood...

My Turkish is OK-but what i really excel at is ordering food..whether it would be shopping in my local Tansas or in a restaurant. Priorities..priorities )
