Olives

Does anyone know if there is a place where you can take your olives to have them pressed and made into olive oil? (Fethiye/Marmaris area)

We have two very large trees that seem to have a bumper crop on them and far too many to eat as olives in brine.

Re: Olives

Zeytin Fabrikasi is what you are looking for. There are a couple between Fethiye and Kemer, but they are quite common.
You take your crop and they give you the oil.
You need to find one very local to where you live (Fethiye - Marmaris is a big area) and perhaps a Turkish neighbour might include your crop with his.

Re: Olives

Thanks for that information Ian.

We are in Koycegiz which is a mainly Turkish town with very few foreigners, and thinking about it there are numerous olive groves there. Now that we have the 'magic words' (Zeytin Fabrikasi) should be able to make enquiries about having them pressed for oil when they are ripe.

Re: Olives

The oil of the olive (zeytin) is zeytınyağı (olive oil). Having just passed another it is signed Zeytinyağı Fabrikası.
