Re: Help translation please

If you just text him - r u ok? - I'm sure he will understand this one! I can't imagine any turkish men not knowing how to text.

In what capacity is he a 'son' to you?' if he can't speak or write any english then how does any of your family understand him? Sorry just curious?

Re: Help translation please

....thanks Kadim ... will try that ..
sound very dodgy ..but my oh took a photo of him fishing on the harbourside ..typical touristy shot .. got chatting ..as you do ... with the aid of dictionaries and friends who speak english/turkish ..same age as our kids ...he adopted us as his baba and anna??? all very casual and informal ..but he has sent pictures of his family ..brothers and sisters etc, and we have reciprocated .. all seems very inocent..we are also in contact withone of the girls who was a waitressin our hotel who speaks very good english ..the chap who sold us a carpet ..etc etc ....
are we being very naive .. I felt these people were very genuine ..and did not ask anything from us ..in fact I felt quite ashamed initially at how cynical and cold we were towards the turks when in fact hey seemed to be very welcoming ..
am I wrong do you think??

Re: Help translation please

I dont think your wrong at all Rusty!
making a friendship doesnt just involve being able to speak the same language, i have many friends in turkey, who i communicate with struggeled Turkish, & with the aid of dictionarys.

The Turkish people are a friendly race & love to be able to share their families with you & also become part of your family!

Sorry i cant help with the translation tho!!

if you ask him ...nasilsiniz? ... that means how are you?

Re: Help translation please

For a Turk to get a visa to visit England they need a letter of invitation to take to the Embassy. This will involve you inviting him to stay in your house and providing full name and address details so the authorities can check you're a real person.
There's nothing wrong with this if you're happy to have this lad in your home for a holiday.
If not, I'd think carefully.
If he did a moonlight flit whilst under your 'care' the authorities will come knocking on your door first.
