Re: Going to turkey with my half turkish daughter

From a legal point of view, your daughter is not "half Turkish", but 100% British, unless you have taken out Turkish citizenship for her. After you marry, both of you remain British citizens unless you, again, apply for Turkish citizenship.

When you marry, where do you intend to live? Is boyfriend the father of the child (and on Birth Cert)? Is the father making a 'claim' on the child i.e. suggesting she take on Turkish citizenship or be raised in Turkey?

You might get a better response to your question if you take a few minutes to introduce yourself to members in the appropriate forum.

You dont say how old your daughter is and if she was born in / registered in Turkey. What the status/ relationship is with and where the father is resident. There was and still maybe a law in Turkey that says that Turkish children cannot be taken out of the country by one parent without the others written approval (if they are resident in Turkey).
I know of second marriages where the stepfather has formally adopted the daughter as a safeguard for the ( UK born - dual citizen) child while she grows up, but that is all for people resident in Turkey.
Your best source of information maybe the Turkish Consulate in London.
And think of your daughter and inheritance/ wills while you are at it.

Re: Going to turkey with my half turkish daughter

Only problems we’ve ever had is my wife (who still has her British maiden name on her UK passport) travelled from Turkey to Greece with our Son, who has a Turkish surname (and UK passport).

Nothing major just got held back and questioned for about an hour by passport control.

Re: Going to turkey with my half turkish daughter

Hi butterfly, i hope you don't sting like a bee lol, anyway your daughter will have no problem coming back as long as she is in your passport or has a british passport .When you get married your daughter will have no problem coming back to U.k. If she is under the age of 16 then it may affect her only if you give up your British citizenship. If your daughter is under 16 and has a turkish citizenship, she can still come and live in U.k with you.

Re: Going to turkey with my half turkish daughter

As far as I understand it Turkish law defines a child parented by a Turk as Turkish which would be more of a problem for a male child (military service)

had a look on here - may help

Re: Going to turkey with my half turkish daughter

Before we moved to Turkey we never had any problems with our sons travelling in and out of the country on irish passports.....so I'm sure your daughter won't either.
