Mukhtar

Don't know if I've placed this in the correct place but am sure someone will move it if not?

Does anyone know who governs the village Mukhtar, there must be someone that is in charge of them that we can complain to about them?

The Mukhtar where we are has been promising for 2 years now to repair the village roads but so far nothing, this morning hubby blew out 2 tyres, again on rocks that are on the 'road'. We are fed up having to continually repair the car due to the bad state of the so called roads around here and the Mukhtar refuses to do anything about them, surely there is someone above him other than the Kaymakam, who we have also put in letters to!

Ok rant over!

Re: Mukhtar

If you aren't getting any joy from the Kaymakam then try the Vali of your main city depending on where you live ie. Aydin for those in Didim, Kusadasi and Mugla for those in Bodrum, Marmaris and Fethiye.

Re: Mukhtar

Sara,

Don't hold your breath, we've been waiting for our road to be fixed for more than 3 years! We even paid a visit to the mayor who told us they couldn't fix the road until Izsu (our district water company) came and repaired all the ditches along the route. We spoke to Izsu (hubby calls every week!) they promise it will get down, they have a whole list of new projects for our village, but have already started in other areas....and so the ball continues to bounce between the two.

Good luck, I know how stressful it can be,

Charlotte

Re: Mukhtar

Hi Charlotte,

yes, very frustrating but completely fed up having problems with the car because of the state of the roads and the having no response from the Mukhtar other than 'what do you want me to do about it!'

We know what the problem is and it's all political, our only neighbour ran against him in the last local election and lost because the current mukhtar is AK party so could afford to 'buy' votes resulting in our neighbour losing the election. The result is that we didnt get new electricity poles like everyone else in the village, our roads aren't repaired and we have no village water most of the time! All because these things would also be available to our neighbour, something the mukhtar doesn't want to happen!

This part of Turkish life can be a right royal pain in the bum sometimes!!!!!

Re: Mukhtar

ah, yes I know all about the 'it's not what you know, it's who you know' workings of the local municipality political system. It drives me crazy too.
We wanted to buy a new car but have held off because the road to our home would just kill it.

Good luck, I hope you find someone who will listen and finally do something about it,

Re: Mukhtar

Have you tried the general number in Muğla 179- all languages and general compliants that should go through to the Vali
it is election campaign time and it might just work!
