Passport Translation Advice Please

We are selling our house and as we have a Turkish person very interested in buying (and if they do it will be in the next 2 days!!) we need to get our paperwork in order. We have been told that we need our Passports 'translated into Turkish' and notarised. However, I urgently need to find out whether anyone (a friend for example) can simply translate the passports for us, or if it needs to be a solicitor or somesuch??? Also, how much of the passport needs to be translated - presumably just the relevant photo page? We want to get this done tomorrow morning first thing because if they proceed, we want everything in order before we go to the TAPU office, so would greatly appreciate it if someone can clarify this for us?? Thank youl

Re: Passport Translation Advice Please

Has to be notarized. Very simple process and not very expensive from what I can recall.

Re: Passport Translation Advice Please

As far as I am aware Legal documents are supposed to be translated by the Notary as they are the people who stamp it.

Re: Passport Translation Advice Please

it will have to be an officially recognised translator and your nearest Notar will have translators who work through them.........i had an official document translated 2 years ago which cost 60 lira...and 50 lira for the notar

Ring Aysin Vidinli on 05323302440 who will do it for you at her Notary in Bodrum all in an hour or two.

Or Meltem on 05354384544 who will do the same at her Notary opposite Oasis, no 4 I think.

Good luck.

Thank you Des, we will call them now. It might not happen, but we should have got this done anyway just in case! Best wishes, S

Hi Lesley.... we won't count our chickens until the money is in the bank... but will keep you posted. If it does go through very quickly, you will find us sleeping in Scooby's do's castle!!!! We should have got this done earlier as we always knew that if a Turkish person bought, it would all be done quickly. We have someone in place to do the conveyancing (from Crescent Homes) or we might just get our solicitor to check things for us - the potential buyers have friends who are our neighbours and seem like very nice, honest people.... but of course when doing anything legal we need to protect ourselves, so until the money is in the bank, the TAPU will be firmly in our hands. But early days yet...... if it does happen, I will let you know as we will need to plan for Scooby! LOL S x

Re: Passport Translation Advice Please

Thanks to everyone who replied so quickly - we really appreciate it. Knowing that the Notar does the translations is a huge help... and of course makes sense! I was slightly panicking as these people seem to genuinely want the house... but even if this sale doesn't go through, we will have our paperwork in order for when it does. I will call the numbers Des has given now so we will hopefully have an appointment and an idea of cost. Thanks again, Sharon
