Issue with British neighbours

Help- I own property in the Didim area, I holiday there as does my fmaily and close friends.

My neighbours are British:
1. They have rented out my apartment behind my back and therefore stole electric and water from me.
2. The male has a history of violence in UK and Turkey and has done time
(how did he get a Turkish Residency ?)
3. They have appointed themsleves custodians of the block, I wasnt asked for my vote and now they demand money.
4. The turned off the stairwell lights after when my 72year old mother was over.
5. The smuggle tortoises into the UK and sell them
6. They smashed a neighbours windoes becasue of a spat
7. They heard and left a neighbours water running this generated a huge water bill in an empty apt.
8. Basiscally they are violent thieving scum what can I do ?.

Re: Issue with British neighbours

Go to the police (and take a translator if necessary) if you think someone has resided in your apartment without your permission.

If you know when and how they are smuggling tortoise then inform British immigration.

Apart from that, change the locks on your apartment, install a CCTV camera and cross your fingers you can catch them doing something illegal.

You may also want to see if it's possible to have a meeting and organise a new manager for your block - unfortunately I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure someone will be able to help you with that.

Re: Issue with British neighbours

Gosh, sounds a nightmare.

They obviously have your keys if they have rented out your apartment, the first thing to do is get your locks changed asap.

I would also name and shame them on every Turkish Forum. I can understand why you may be reluctant if the Male is violent though.

Also report them to Border Control if you feel they are smuggling tortoises, do you have any proof of this?

Yes it's immoral and illegal, ... but can you prove any of it... ?

If you have the persons name/details, then pass them on to UK customs, a "flag" will then be put on the computer system which "should" mean he/they will be pulled up at customs the next time he/they go through customs.

Rented out?
Probably to friends or family, so doubt if you would manage to get anyone admitting to staying there.

Other than that report him to the local police, but make sure you have proof as you will still have to live in your apartment.

Hobbit I'm wondering if you missed this reply to an earlier post about your problem

Hobbit,

All attitudes of your neighbour seem to be "offense" as well as I've understood from your message and all these offenses forfeit penalties. What you should do is going straight to the prosecutor's office and lodge a detailed bill of complaint regarding your neighbours. This is a more secure, serious and effective way than striving against the police or gendarme. Furthermore, this investigation and prosecution processes are utterly free to the people as the expenses are covered by the public fund.

Hope this helps.

Re: Issue with British neighbours

Hi i agree with what Teosgirl & Suzyq say ....also keep a log of all the things they have done to anyone on your site with dates & times, the same thing happened on the site i live on but it was a Turkish man causing all the trouble.....the Jamdama was called & they said if so many people complain (they should tell you this when you go to prosecute them) they will be removed off the sit. Don't suffer & let these so called human beings ruin your life & never give them money....hopefully if you do report them to customs & caught they may be deported good luck i hope everything works out ok for you all....
