Cost of making a Turkish Will

I have had a quote for getting a turkish will drawn up and was wondering if anyone else had gone through the process and how much it cost.

The lawyer I have contacted has quoted me 325 for each will, which includes all notary fees and storage duties so was trying to find out if this is over the top or about average.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Cost of making a Turkish Will

If this is for your turkish property, I wouldn't bother. The courts have their own rules as to who the property is left to after the owner's death. Children, if there are any, get the biggest share whether it's what you want or not.

The Lawyer has told us that if we do not make a will 25% goes to the surviving partner and the rest divided equally, however this can be changed by making a will.

We are still undecided about the will and may not go down that route, to be fair the lawyer has said that it all depends on our circumstances (in ours they are pretty straight forward) and we may not need a will at all.

Re: Cost of making a Turkish Will

I recently had mine done in Fethiye. I didn't use a lawyer, I used a translator and it cost me around 650 lira. I did it mainly to save the hassle of my bank accounts being frozen. The translator went with me to the notary, he drew up the will, I checked it was what I wanted and signed it witnessed by the translator. All I needed was passport, translation and residency book. I was given a copy, a copy stayed with the notary and a copy went to the consulate in Ankara.
