New 2B Law takes effect

Turkey is getting set for a major overhaul to activity on public lands as a new land use law kicks into gear.

A law that allows the opening of land known as 2B -- land formerly classified as forests -- for construction is now being enforced after President Abdullah Gül approved it and it was published in the Official Gazette on Thursday

2B law takes effect following President Gül's approval

Yes, we were pleased to see that this new law has finally been passed. There will be some happy owners in areas of Dalaman!

sounds like we will be loosing forrests then....not good news to me. one of the main natural beauties of the mugla region are the green pine forrests that come down to the aqua blue sea.

Re: New 2B Law takes effect

I understand that some people who already own land in these areas might welcome this news.

However, in the Fethiye area at any rate, there are literally 100's of partly built and finished builds standing empty, why then spread the circle even wider and spoil natural landscapes.

There was a huge outcry in England against building on "green belt" land.

Yes I agree, but, there are some owners who bought property legally and have a Kat Mülkiyeti Tapu. They were then told that, because the kadastro and forestry haven't worked hand in hand over the years, the map borders have strayed and their properties are now situated in 2B land. Two years of expensive court cases trying to stop the Government taking their land away will now come to an end.

It also happened on our street. We were OK but many of our Turkish neighbours, with legally built properties, suddenly found out they were also on 2B land, all due to c**k ups by Government departments .

Stelliebellie I have cleared some messages.
