Question re-married

I have re-married since buying my apartment so the name on my Tapu is different to the name on my passport. Will this be a problem when I sell my place as I am hoping to do.

Re: re-married

I would advise changing the name now, they will probably want to see translated (and notarised) copies of old and new passports along with your marrige certificate.

regards

We took legal advice as my wife's name has changed through marriage since we bought. The lawyer said not to bother changing it as the transaction would be looked on as a sale/purchase from one name to the other and incur all the changes involved like military clearance and transfer tax.

We were advised to do nothing until we decided to sell then we would have to get copies of the marriage certificate apostlled in the UK to present at the sale. The cost of having this done would be substantially cheaper than going through the whole sale/purchase procedure again.

Re: re-married

We sold a property in same circumstances some time ago.

No need to go through a name change on the Tapu. I had the customer's marriage certificate, along with her new passport translated and notarised over here in Turkey.

All was accepted without a problem by the Tapu office manager and sale was completed as normal.
