Help with company tax??

HI, don't know if anyone can throw any light on this but.....

We are in the process of closing our company down after selling our property. We paid the 20% business tax last year before leaving and tried to pay the company directors dividend of 15% but was told by our accountant that this would not be due until April/May 2015. He knew we were leaving the country therefore would not be able to pay this tax until April when we are going back (it needs to be paid in person in the bank!), but has just sent us a payment sheet and told us we have until the 26/1 to pay! Anyone got a clue what we can do to sort this out.

Re: Help with company tax??

Corporation tax is not due to be paid until the following 1st of December so 2014 accounts are not paid till 2015 dividends can be paid at any time of the year as long as the shareholders meet and agree and the meeting is minuted

This is how it works in the UK

Have you tried contacting Yellali?

http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct...83829542,d.ZWU

They have specialists who can help, or they can refer you to someone approved by them as an expert. We have had good advice from them in the past.
Worth a try.

Good luck!

Re: Help with company tax??

Thanks for the info. Just seems really strange as we checked at least 3 times with the accountant that this last payment would not be due until April/May, now can't seem to get through to him that we are not there and will not be flying back for the day to pay this! He has never been the most helpful of accountants, we always had to find out about new rulings etc ourselves and tell him, but this latest episode is really annoying, having checked all we could whilst still in the country!

Re: Help with company tax??

Hi Sara,
On a few occasions when we were not in Turkey, I have asked our accountant to pay a bill tax ect for us. Then I would transfer the money to his account at a later date when I was back in Turkey. He had no problem with this as he knew we always pay whatever he asks of us.
Could you ask your account in this instant to pay the bill for you and then you can reimburse him when you return in April/May? He is your agent, surely he can do this for you?

Re: Help with company tax??

Thanks Samimi,

It's not a small bill but even saying that he has said WE have to go to our bank to pay it, will just have to live with whatever fine they levy on us, again, thanks to our accountant. Its the principle at the minute as he told us again and again that it was due in April/May, I'm trying to find out why this has now changed to January but he is just not answering.
