Re: How do I report our Solicitor

Is it a British or Turkish lawyer,if the latter I doubt it would do any good as we are seen as easy pickings and a cash cow as far as they are concerned.

Hi Tina, I reported a lawyer to the Bar association a few years back but the details are a bit hazy now. They took their own sweet time & eventually after chasing them up a few times wrote to me to say that "they had a chat with her about it & didn't find anything wrong in what she told them"........

I know I had to set out the details of my complaint in statement form & I provided copies of relevant docs, receipts, correspondence etc. These were translated into Turkish & I think I had to go to the court, see a judge to lodge them?

Here's a link to the Turkish Bar association website; maybe they can give you clearer & more up to date info. Bear in mind the above involves various costs & there's little to no chance of getting anywhere - Sorry to be so pessimistic but 10 years experience of the Turkish Legal system leaves a rather bitter taste in the mouth.

Re: How do I report our Solicitor

If its reporting a Turkish Lawyer, i would not hold your breath. The old adage of looking after their own comes to mind. I had cause to report a lawyer some years ago and they never even did me the courtesy of a reply.

Re: How do I report our Solicitor

If you are from the UK, you might imagine that the Turkish courts and legal procedures are hopelessly more sycophantic, convoluted and diabolical, than in the UK.

Guess what? You'd be wrong, in practice, but you have to know what you are doing..... Read 'tll the end.

First, I should say this: I know of Turkish lawyers that have been debarred, much to their shame and chagrin, and demise. Personally I have not pursued such cases, because when posed with a credible threat, the offenders crumble. They only take advantage of you as a foreigner, if they think they can get away with it. Debarring is a serious and viable option, and there are simple ways to put the wheels into motion.

Unlike in the UK.

In the UK I have on two occasions been the victim of influence peddling with District Judges. Again, knowing what you are doing is key, and in one such instance, reserving the right for (threat of) judical review was sufficient. In the other case, it required a full appeal, successfullly, but very expendive.

In another instance, the solicitor representing my case, withdrew the night before the hearing. With two eye witness testimonies of the counterparty boasting of how they bribed my solicitor to drop the case, I went to the Solicitors Complaint procedure in the UK, and right through the entire process to the final hearing and judgement.

The outcome was stunning. The presiding judge ruled that there could be no judgement against the offending solicitor without 'PROOF OF PAYMENT'...in other words, documentary evidence of a PAYMENT RECEIPT (exact words) issued by the offending solicitor, for the bribe received. So I needed the receipt for the bribe received by the solicitor for the bribe money that was received from the counterparty that was against me.

Is that not DIABOLICAL, or...?

Or is it simply DISGUSTING? Despite repeated attempts, of repeated UK governments over the last 30 years, have the long awaited cries for judicial reform in the UK ever materialized?

Pursuing litigation through the Turkish Courts, adhering to codified law, is far easier and simple and more cost effective than in the UK courts, adhering to common law, and precedent.
