Using an electric mitre saw

Hi all,

Does anyone know if I'm allowed to use a electric saw to cut wood during the summer season in Akbuk?
I want to construct a wooden shed. I already have a concrete base.

Thanks in advance.

There should be no problem, the summer season is almost over anyway. Especially if you are courteous to the neighbours and don't saw for prolonged periods.

Re: Using a electric mitre saw

I have used a circular saw all summer to cut up tree branched and small logs for the winter. all around me neighbours are using chain saws and have been all summer, but I am not in a major tourist area.

Re: Using a electric mitre saw

God forbid, I break out a Powertool.. I was simply trying out my new cement mixer, that I had just constructed. I got a visit from the police, got a warning from the very friendly officer... Even he was surprised someone had complained...

He did say, it was probably because I have a poolside property..

Re: Using a electric mitre saw

The law says you can't do any major work, is using a power tool to cut up wood major? Is there a list anywhere which specifies what is allowed.

Re: Using a electric mitre saw

There will not be a detailed list, because if there was then something could be forgotten. The laws are interpreted in a flexible way to suit the situation. I would just get on with it, if someone complains then deal with it on the fly. Most of the Turks will be back at work now anyway, it is more likely to be a Turk that complains that a foreigner, simply because of the language issues.

For what I know of working in Turkey, the law applies to builders building apartments, hotels and the like.Everyone is having work done all year round in their homes. If I wanted to do renovations to my apartment I would just get on with it, but tell your neighbours first, although they would not be as considerate.

The problem comes if a neighbour complains..The Zabita have to act then.... how they interpret the law is another thing.
