Confused... Turkish wills.

I was under the impression that even if you made a will, your assets were distributed according to the Turkish law, can anyone enlighten me please, though personal experience, I am hearing conflicting stories and wondering if a will will be worth the paper it is written on. Thanks. xx

Re: Confused... Turkish wills.

Sue,Turkish inheritance laws are basically fixed as far as property is concerned, will or no will.
As for other assets then a Turkish will assist a judge as to who is entitled to what of the shackles as requested by the deceased.

Thanks Martin... and Kanga for your light reading, I just scanned through it phew !!!!
It was as I suspected, after listening to a British neighbour who had a will along with his wife who died, and he had no end of problems despite a will being in place. xx

You could of course always , make a Bare ownership on your property which allows you to live in it until death and it goes to the new owner who ever's name you put on the Tapu , It is just like selling your house but you are giving it away ,to save tax duty It's on Yellali just got an email today .

Re: Confused... Turkish wills.

A Turkish lawyer told me we could write anything on our will and if it is a problem for you it is no problem you are dead.

Sounds about right Martin.. we just want to be aware of what will happen regardless of whether a will is in place or not. Our neighbours solicitors response was pretty similar when relating to the will he and his deceased wife had in place. xx

I would tread carefully with that and have it thoroughly checked out, if like in the UK many go down that road not realising they have walked in to a minefield. There are many implications regarding gifting and marketable rents.
