Re: Driving Licence Turkey

Moving on from my post above and realising i'm not gong to get my Turkish licence until sometime in 20201,today i very reluctantly started looking at quick turnround flights to any airport in the UK. I was trying to avoid mixing in close proximity with strangers due to health problems and been basically self quarantining myself since March.
I've just booked for a same day return with Easyjet Bodrum to Gatwick [direct flight] on Friday Sept 18th.

Outbound from Bodrum is at 00.35 on the 18th,landing at 2.30am then a choice of either a fast turnaround with the return flight at 07.30am [the one i've booked ] or next one still the same day departs Gatwick at 17.50..

My quick turnround flight where i'll be back in Bodrum airport by 13.30 the same day was just 114 [no hold luggage].

Returning on the later flight is 90.

Very silly isn't it? how much damage will we do to th planet just to be able to drive in Turkey? It would be good if the British embassy raised the issue, too late for me, but good for the planet

Re: Driving Licence Turkey

I made the trip to Stanstead via Dalaman, landing at 0900hrs and taking the return flight at 1330hrs the same day.

Apart from being packed into a bus at Dalaman in order to board the plane, the journey was as not too bad. On the return flight with Anadolujet, the cabin staff did make extra effort to ensure people always wore their masks and wore the properly.

I usually drive to Turkey, down to the South Coast plus of course the return every year.
My experience is that Turkish drivers are the worst, no spatial awareness, lane discipline non existent and indicators, I think not!
So why are our licences not accepted? Can't be for safety reasons.

They are accepted (US ones are not) for exchange. The problem is the amount of time it take for the UK DVLA to get back to the Turkish authorities to give the green light.

I am glad to hear that your trip went well. Did you need to get a 'health code ' here in Turkey before you went?
