Amazon Fire Stick
Was wondering if anyone in Turkey is using an Amazon Fire Stick. Was told that they can be used in Turkey, but would rather believe personal comments on the possible use of this in Turkey. We are at present watching UK tv when we are over using Live Film on TV via our tablet.
many thanks

Re: Amazon Fire Stick
I took a firestick to Turkey last year and it worked well. You can stream netflix or amazon prime video although you will need to subscribe to them. Kodi , mobdro and filmon etc can be loaded onto it but I think they're a bit 'clunky' using the firestick remote. You can also cast to it through your tablet, which is prob the best method.

Hi Sharon
I have used F/S in Turkey....works well.....it is best used as a WiFi streaming device so remember it uses a lot of internet data and can be very costly if not used on a unlimited broadband package.
You can sideload apps with ES FILESHARE.....just load ES FILESHARE onto the stick and your android mobile....then download the apps to your Android Phone and then transfer the apps to the stick via ES FILESHARE.....just make sure you have phone and stick on the same wifi network while sharing the apps from your phone.
You can also use the TABLET to share any apps you want to use to the Stick via ES FILESHARE.....would save you downloading twice.
You can also use the stick to MIRROR content from your Tablet or Mobile to watch on large screen just like CHROMECAST.
a few good apps.....MOBDRO, SOLID STREAMZ, NETFLIX,CRACKLE, LIVENOW TV
Lastly you might need a VPN to get some of those working fully in Turkey.

Hi- hope you are well. Can the same process be applied to a 2015 Chromecast or is the F/S more advanced?

Hi Alan
No..... Chromecast is for mirroring and streaming content from your device.
It is not possible to hack the Chromecast.
The F/S represents greater value for another £5.....the chromecast are about £30 mark.
Forgot to say that the F/S has BLUETOOTH capability and you can hook up a WIRELESS BLUETOOTH KEYBOARD to make it easier to navigate for searching and especially for KODI if using it for that purpose.
If you are considering buying a F/S I wold suggest you give some consideration to the AMAZON FIRE TV BOX....cost about £79 but they offer better WIFI capability with the option of ETHERNET CABLE and you can expect a significant greater storage capacity and the possibility to expand the capacity with an SD card.
The box is lightening quick to respond to remote keystrokes.

Re: Amazon Fire Stick
Go to Facebook page and find a guy called Troypoint, his videos are great and easy to follow and he creates shortcuts for loading a firestick. Please turn off the fs screensaver as it downloads pictures as you watch if you let it go to sleep mode, this saves a lot of data being used up.

Re: Amazon Fire Stick
This is all totally above and beyond me ... streamling ... downloading ... firesticks ... shortcuts ... I don't even do Internet banking or WhatsApp or Twitter or Skype ... to me a phone is for phone calls and text messages only ... my digital camera is for taking photos only ... my television has Digiturk for only £11 per month and therefore, who would I need all these extras that are so damn fiddly and also quite expensive? A lot of the things mentioned on this Forum are if you have a SmartPhone - which I do not and do not wish to have - or to be watched on their laptops or computers - again, why have a telly if you cannot watch films on the telly? Truly, I cannot get my head around why you people do what you do!!! x Angela in Side x

Re: Amazon Fire Stick
Angela i am a little like you , i do have a firestick , they are very bandwidth hungry and suffer several problems ,
One is tha you need a very good unlimited internet connection .
Another is that the quality is often lower than mainstream tv.
You also need to update regularly and a lot of the software is written by amateurs , it is not tested very well before release , they expect hobbyists to iron out some problems .
Until it all becomes plug , play , watch , forget it will always be a toys for the boys and girls preserve .
These are all merely generalisations on my behalf , but it is ow i feel .
My firestick does not get much use .
Steve
