I would suggest that buying from a British/Western family who are relocating back home for good reasons and have the Tapu and habitation certificate may well be a wise idea.
Was he by name and nature by any chance ?

I understand that but the first benefit is the language, from there on in its in the buyers hands. If people don't feel that they can trust anyone on a purchase & also risk losing everything then.............FFS don't buy there.

He was certainly Brit by name, he was jailed in the north east of the UK for drug dealing. As soon as he was released he was deported to S Cyprus where they had a warrant out for him for more dodgy house/land dealings.

Yes remember it well. Go back far enough in posts on here and it will be there.

Re: Buying A property

I have bought 3 x properties in Side, Turkey over the last 12 years and have never rented - nor would I advise it - just money down the drain. Have a look at the Turkish website in English = https://www.sahibinden.com/category/en/real-estate

Re: Buying A property

You make your choices & take your chances in this life but not when it comes to ANY percentage chance of losing everything you've grafted all your life for.
Language & knowing how the property system works in Turkey, buying from a Brit you have the language sorted............that leaves the system to learn & you can still get tripped up on that score.
I know many people who done everything right & still lost out, its caution before & afr you get your Tapu. One thing to remember on TLF, advice is free, so don't be shy to ask.

How much would you expect to reduce these Sahibinden prices to get a sale, or are they realistic already ?

They advertise using inflated prices in the hope that they will get a realistic price, its the buyers job to get if for bottom dollar.............

Re: Buying A property

Does anyone know if there is a register of properties sold in the area?

If so then it shouldn’t be too difficult to find a similar property & the price for which it was sold.

The only registers I know are at the Tapu Office or Beledye, in both cases most are false figures, ie not what they were sold for.
