Motorbike License

I have a Turkish Driving license after completing the process with DVLA/Consulate etc etc but they have not given a full motorbike category i have A full UK motorcycle licence and they only gave me TR category A2-B. Has this happened to anyone else?

Re: Motorbike License

Yes it happened to me and my husband. I didn't worry as I didn't intend riding in TR but husband went back to the licencing office, then in Antalya, and they changed it straight away for him. Invited him in for çay and cake at the same time!! This was twelve or thirteen years ago however.

Racebike is right.

If you look at the Turkish groups A2 includes A and gives you authorisation to ride bikes of all capacities. I made a song and dance about it when I applied for my Turkish licence, I didn't mind giving up HGV class one etc etc (not likely to be driving a crane or tank here) but I wasn't going to give up the chance to ride a decent bike, bloody glad I didn't because I'm now scooting around on a very nice BMW F650GS Dakar.

Re: Motorbike License

Ah well in that case Morag77 is ok. When we got ours there was only the car category on them which was the reason for returning to Antalya to get it changed.

Right on .Mind you, did you give up your LGV1 lic .Although I have not renewed my class 1 for last 2 years I only have to submit medical to renew it . DVLA told me unless I write a letter in to them saying I give it up,I can still renew it at any time with the medical.

Round here its £55 LGV medical . I kept mine because every now and then I got a cushy P time job driving heavies . Example one job I did was 2 days a week on a 18 ton rigid taking scrap cars to a metal merchant cash in hand .Another was a window co ( got some free new d g ,windows free). But of course I am in UK.
When I used to queue up outside the scrap metal firm with all the metal pick up travellers vans ,I used to get mistaken for one of them .lol.
