Alcohol in Central Anatolia

Hello everybody.
We are planning a trip to Konya and Cappadocia.
Shall we find any places where they serve not only mezes, but also raki? Or shall we drink ayran and cay?
Can anybody share any knowledge about booze-friendly restaurants in Konya and Goreme please?

Re: Alcohol in Central Anatolia

In our trip to Konya we found all places we visited did not sell alcohol. The Hotel were happy if we bought from alcohol shops, there were a few, and also happy to provide glasses.

Take some with you or buy from 'Tekel' shops. there will be some but they may be hard to find. Cappadocia is famous for its wines too!

Re: Alcohol in Central Anatolia

Goreme is a tourist town all the restaurants sold alcohol

Can't speak for Konya - it's still on my list but is known for religious conservatism

Re: Alcohol in Central Anatolia

Konya is a very religious town. If you want to drink, you will probably need to find an upscale hotel there. You may be able to find a cheaper place and just go to a bar or restaurant in expensive hotel, though. But finding a place to drink in Konya will not be an easy task.

Konya is dry as dust! You will be hard pushed to find a shop selling alcohol, let alone a bar...

Re: Alcohol in Central Anatolia

I suspect that you will find it in a 5 star Migros, and bars in 4-5 star hotels. Look online at hotels and their facilities before you go.

I've been told that Konya has the highest number of alcoholics in Turkey.
