Turkey airfares

With continued pick up in interest for holidaymakers returning to Turkey I hope the increased amount of flights is also matched with more sensible pricing

It's great to see for this coming season a substantial increase in flights frequency so it would be great to see an end to the horrendous prices being charged this past few seasons

350 to 400 is /was extortionate. It looks even worse as fare prices to other destinations continue to fall. Belfast to Boston return can now be got at 150

Re: Turkey airfares

Yes Saoirse, I agree with you whole-heartedly. I always check the fares on www.skyscanner.net as they offer all fares from all destinations - not only for the scheduled carriers - but charters - and anything else in between. I have always had very good deals from them. x Angela in Side x

Re: Turkey airfares

Hmm I read in the Turkish press a week or so ago that seven flag carriers have cancelled all flights into Ataturk.
A bit telling I believe.

No demand, contrasts with what we hear from the publicity department of the min of Tourism. Maybe they want too much for the slots?

Re: Turkey airfares

I never understand how airfares are calculated

I can go next Mon to Spain for 14.99 and as I've mentioned Norwegian do USA from Belfast for 150 return so its not down to distance

Re: Turkey airfares

I remember the Onur Air Express ( lol) from Teeside Airport ( not sure there is an airport there anymore) that departed at 8 pm every Thursday during the season for less than 100 return.

I believe the flight originitated in Belfast but happy to be on board as it bumped it's way across Europe carrying our mind boggling luggage. No limits. Tables, Chairs , TV's etc.

Landed in Bodrum you could also buy Henkel Champagne for about 3 quid a bottle.

Onur Air also ran a weekly flight from Mancester during the winter which meant we could go out of season.

We've lived life on the wild side with Onur Air!
As yet never seen anything to replace it.

Re: Turkey airfares

Remember it well

They were the days

Always remember flying into Dalaman in the heart of winter on that flight with the whole airport closed apart from us arriving on that 1 plane!!

Great days

Indeed they were.
Such happy memories.

Will always treasure the slightly bizarre goings on of everything about Turkey.

Re: Turkey airfares

I actually remember on one winter occasion for reasons known only to Onur Air we flew back via Bodrum!!

Was bloody nightmare- turned up at Dalaman, put on drafty coach to Marmaris for a night in a hotel which was freezing as it had been closed for the winter and only opened for that 1 night for us Onur Air victins!!!

Next morning coach to Bodrum

We had obviously by then missed our connecting flight Manc to Belfast so a night in Manchester then home after another day!!!!
