Re: importing personal furniture from UK

This is something you cannot do yourself, you'll need the services of a shipping agent,as he will know the importing procedure for paperwork, who to see ,what and whom to pay...etc...,also you'll not find anyone who speaks English at a Port Gumruk office.
Also before your goods arrive you must hold a valid Residence Permit.
As stated above,it's not really worthwhile paying £thousands for shipment when styles of furniture etc that suit properties in Turkey are plentiful & in the majority of good quality & sensible prices..

Choice & prices are even better if you can get into a decent sized city away from the resorts. We went down to Izmir & bought just about everything except white goods. They transported the furniture from Izmir to Akbuk for 150 TL. Oh and it never arrived on an opened-back tranny van either. Boxed wagon, everything bubble wrapped & inspected.

Re: importing personal furniture from UK

The other issue with your 'UK' white/electrical goods is finding someone to repair them. One of the best things about Turkey (apart from the other best things) is the abundance of authorised repairers and cheap, good quality repairs for local goods. Eg two new parts on iron and fixing £12.50, new catch on washing machine door (including two 50km trips) £20 including part. I would sell in the UK and buy new Turkish.
