Turkey to Be World's Most Popular Holiday Spot in 2020

Interesting Prediction, but can it be taken seriously when Israel is included alongside Turkey & Cyprus?

'Turkey to Be World's Most Popular Holiday Spot in 2020
By Aslihan Aydin, Zaman

Turkey, Cyprus and Israel will be the most popular vacation spot for tourists who want enthusiasm, entertainment and education and for thos who love the sea, sand and sun in 2020.

The World Tourism Organization’s (WTO) 2020 Vision Report indicated that the number of tourists going for vacation to a foreign country will increase to 1,5 million.

According to the report, income from tourism will also reach $2 trillion. 3S, which is used to refer to sun-sand-sea will be replaced by 3E which stands for exciting-educational-entertainment in the tourism sector. Turkish, Cypriot and Israeli destinations that will overtake Europe in the tourism sector will grow by 6,3 percent. European growth rate that has been the most attractive tourism field so far will remain at 3,1 percent.

Although Europe will still be hosting the highest tourist population in 2020, WTO anticipates that Turkey, Cyprus and Israel will double the average European growth in the tourism field. According to the WTO’s 2020 Vision Report, a total of 346 million tourists will visit Mediterranean countries in 2020 and 79 million tourists will visit the Balkan countries as well. Turkey, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania and Croatia will expectedly host 92 percent of this figure. The report evaluating the world’s tourism movements for the year of 2020 announced that the tourism sector will be the speediest developing sector by growing 6,8 percent annually.
