Re: 47th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Hi ruth another year sooo fast..it always ends in Alanya..as you know..and when we lived opposite the PTT we could watch the riders arrive in town..i wont see them this year ..but the atmosphere here is great.
İ wonder if this event gets very much international coverage...its a great way to 'show off' Turkey's attractions as the route they go through is beautiful.

We haven't had the chance to get out and see it yet, but would love to. Fethiye is our nearest point and we might try and get there this year, if work doesn't get in the way.

I guess it will be seen on Eurosport by the sports fans and cycling devotees, whether it gets any other international coverage, who knows? You are right, though, it is a great way to 'show off' Turkey.

Re: 47th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

I live just at the foot of the mountain road into Marmaris and always enjoy watching the cyclists come into town and then ride up it again the next day on the next leg of the race.

Very colourful and gives me a temporary moment to promise myself to get fit.( lasts all of about 3 days!! LOL) I'd struggle to get up that road on my little scooter, let alone on a bicycle.

Great stuff though...

Re: 47th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Anther reminder - especially if you are planning to be out on the roads.
TRAFFIC WİLL BE STOPPED COMPLETELY:

It starts at 11:35 am Monday 25 April, in Kusadasi- so all central town traffic will be stopped for an hour before and after, then the same on the road to Soke, Lake Bafa, Milas,
past the airpport (around 2pm- if you a have a flight.... be there early or )
on the dual highway around the back of Bodrum through Ortakent to finish in Turgutreis somewhere around 4-5pm.

Next day the start is in Bodrum and leaves quite quickly- for Marmaris- again roads will be closed, and so on until Alanya!
plan your movements- and sit back and watch on tv- or better still watch it go past- quite a show!

Re: 47th Presidential Cycling Tour of Turkey

Redders-

a) just read the Turgutreis Belediye announcement that said they were closing the street into town 1 hour before
b) what you quoted 2 hours is my phrasing and round estimate - what I wrote for the privately mailed Events / News.. how did it end up on the B Bull..?
c) last year I took the dolmus out to Turgutreis around 2- and it was the last one that got through. Err on the longer time side!

Chris, don't worry; it didn't. I think Redders may have misquoted; on my Bodrum Events Calendar I have only posted basic information and a link to the official website. My information wasn't as comprehensive as yours.
