This July media reported that the Chief of Turkish General Staff, General Isik Kosaner, as well as, the military service chiefs under him at Land Forces, the Air Force and the Navy all submitted their resignations. But then it turned out that in reality so loud resignations were not so much "triumph of Prime Minister Erdogan’s authority over the military" ( acus.org/new_atlanticist/ New Atlanticist | Atlantic Council ), as general consequence of the next failed coup, which was prepared under the leadership of the former Chief of Turkish General Staff, and most likely, with silent support of US State Department. Well, it was no mere chance that more than once in these latter days General Kosaner kept company with representatives of this department.
To all seeming in such a way I. Kosaner planned to release over 250 top military officers, got into trouble as a result of preparing the previous attempted coup in Turkey. And, surely, beyond that point Turkish military would be able to win back their determining influence in this country and to resume their active strategic partnership with the USA then.
