Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

Interesting discussion about the election outcome Is Turkey headed for political instability?

I am not saying I agree with what they say just thought people might be interested.

Looks like revenge for the bombing in Diyarbakir is taking place in the east as Aytaç Baran, President of the Scholarship Service Aid , known for its close ties with the radical Islamist Hür Dava (Free Cause) Part, HUDA-PAR (party of god ) Kurdish Sunni Islamist group which in turn has sympathies, and supports IS, has been killed in an armed attack in southeastern city of Diyarbakir.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

I don't think its revenge in Diyarbakir, I think AKP/Erdogan have done this in an attempt to cause trouble between Huda Par (Hizbullah) and other Kurds mainly PKK. The PKK have stated they did not kill the Huda Par member. Huda Par (formerly hizbullah) have now shot other people. What a terrible mess.

Davuto?lu resigns in procedural step, stays in post until new govt formed

Semi official results from YSK. They say HDP may have gained 1 extra deputy and MHP loses one. MHP have complained but YSK have not made a final decision.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

The first link below explains how the new session of parliament will begin, and the protocol for electing a new Speaker.

Election of parliament speaker to test opposition?s resolve to take on AK Party

More ominously, I just hope there is no link between these 2 items. Is this coincidence?

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

I don't know if my lecturer is just being conservative (I study Turkology), but she is the one that the biggest Danish news channeles turn to in need of an expert, and she describes the most expected consequense of the election as a 'muddy' and 'a drawback for AKP' kind of political situation.

In other words, she thinks the outcome will be a coalition with AKP involved, and thus expects a situation like in the 90's, where too different and opposite opinons will block for the progress of Turkey.

Again, maybe she is just being conservative, and holds on to this scenario, as she is considered an absolute expert, and don't want to exhibit herself with more radical views of the possible outcome of a coalition, be it AKP-HDP or AKP-MHP. Pretty modest.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

A pro-government journalist has implicitly spoken in favor of extrajudicial killings of Kurds in Turkey's southeast similar to those that took place in 90s, but this time at the hands of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL)

Pro-gov?t journalist threatens Kurds with extrajudicial killings at hands of ISIL

What a disgusting attitude sick.
