Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

I'm not sure if the overseas Turks votes are included so not sure how much difference it will make when they are.

After reading your post Charlotte I'm wondering if the information below is correct now?

Information taken from CNN Turk

99.1% of votes counted

AKP

49.4% of votes 316 Deputies

CHP

25.4% of votes 134 Deputies

MHP

11.9% of votes 41 Deputies

HDP

10.7% of votes 59 Deputies

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

Not sure, it's all updated every couple of minutes or so, it's hard to keep up.
It's about right, except I believe the HDP has 60 seats...far exceeding MHP.

I'm sure some votes will be disputed.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

What I don't understand is, if they have rigged the results, then why have they not reported the HDP as below 10% then they could have said they had 350 or more seats?

Also what is the point of miss-reporting now it is over? I could understand sending the wrong message out during a vote as they could influence voters, but unless they are going to try to maintain the deceit and have AKP members sworn in they are on a loser; therefore they must be going for maintaining the deceit.

I would just like to thank all posters for all the updates today.

I am very disappointed at the results though.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

All the polls showed the AKP at 40%.

The HDP are currently on 10.49%. That's .49% over the threshold. The YSK video states the HDP were on 14% earlier.
I don't know how the votes are being manipulated but the AKP seem to be adding to their votes, maybe not focusing too much on taking votes - I'm sure they know what would happen if they 'stole' votes from HDP supporters.

For example, Igdir province - 57% HDP in June, 52% today, which is still a win, yet the AKP gained 20% and moved from 10% to 31%.

Re: Live Updates for Turkish Elections

I have to admit if what you say is true, that Igdir province had a 99% turnout, when half of it is on a mountain then that is indeed suspect. Then again if you are up a mountain a free fridge or washer might come in handy.

Trouble is now flaring up in many parts of the country. Clashes with police etc. Tomas are out in force. I for one fear for Turkey tonight.

I checked this morning the turnout was 80%. The YSK page is still down so we're going to have to rely on news outlets a little longer.

My facebook news feed is very bleak. I'm lucky as I've already made plans for next year, but I have dear friends who are unable to move, and they will have to stay and endure whatever Erdogan has planned. I really feel for them right now, as they are genuinely heart broken for their country of birth.

Here's a hint at which direction the country is heading...

The HDP’s stance on the Diyanet reflects that of millions in the country, who argue that the country’s top religious body serves the needs of the Sunni majority only, with a hefty budget from the government.

The Diyanet is one of the country’s biggest state institutions, overseeing around 90,000 mosques and over 142,000 personnel. The institution’s budget has significantly increased under the AKP governments since 2002, going from a budget of 553 million liras in 2002 ($335 million) to 5.7 billion liras ($2.14 billion) in 2015, amid promises to hire 8,000 new personnel. The 2015 budget of the Diyanet is equal to the budgets of the Foreign Ministry, the Energy Ministry and the Culture and Tourism Ministry combined.
