Re: kulbasti

Love Turkey, I cannot tell you anything about Kulbasti dancing as I do not know what it is, but one evening in Altinkum some men were dancing at a venue, appeared to be a wedding or something and it was brilliant, I stood and watched and thoroughly enjoyed. It appeared to be some traditional dancing.
Try to google it and maybe some will be on You Tube etc where you may find out some history, also some very learned folks on here who live in Turkey will be along soon to tell you.

Re: kulbasti

Although most of the music and dance from the black sea coast comes from the summer festivals when the laz and hemsinli people celebrate moving down from the high pastures in the late summer months to the warmer lower villages for the winter, Kolbasti apparently comes from out of work fishermen from Trabzon and Giresun.

There was a good article about it in Zaman a few months ago:

Kolbastı: the salsa of Trabzon
