Renew Visa Via entry from Northern Cyprus

We are thinking of taking a trip to Northern Cyprus and our current turkish 3 month visa will have expired and we will need to renew it.

Does anyone know if you can renwew your visa for mainland Turkey when returning form Northern Cyprus?

Re: Renew Visa Via entry from Northern Cyprus

Hi Lilly,

I can't answer your visa renewal question for TRNC - although I am sure someone on here will. I would guess that as it is "Turkish" this would not renew your visa - rather it would simply be an extension of use for your existing stamp.

A trip out of Turkey would enable your renewal on return ( say a day trip to Kos ) however Turkish authorities can give you a hard time over this, as it is a widely acknowledged as a dodge to avoid paying the residency visa fees. Others have done it for years without incident. We simply did a trip to Kos ( no visa renewal needed) and got a stern warning from the passport authorities.

I might have mis - understood your post. I am assuming that your visa is running out before you try and renew it. On this assumption, I would say is that you really don't want your visa to expire whilst in the country. They take a really dim view of this and can get very very tetchy about it, with fines (and potentially denial of re entry ) as sanctions . They really don't like "overstayers". I would strongly urge that you "depart" before expiry .

Hope this helps

MR TURKEY

Re: Renew Visa Via entry from Northern Cyprus

Hi the situation is that we live here but dont have residency permit and dont want to get one. We normally go abroad ie kos samos or uk for visa and have not had a problem yet. I want to visit by brother who lives in the Southerm part of Cyprus in Larnaca so i thought a little adventure would be to bus it to mersin get the ferry across travel to the border go and visit him and then come back again via the North then get visa coming back to Turkey but as am not 100 per cent sure dont want problems. The travel agency said he thinks you can like most things a bit out of the ordinary or not everyday occurances not many people are that sure and did nt want to chance any problems getting back.

any help appreciated or its of to hotter parts for visa on return.

Don't know the answer, but surely you could nip over the border to the Greek side.
But hey if you depart Turkey and return from anywhere, surely you re-enter Turkey and pay your £10 and get a new one, irrespective of where you have been. As you say your current visa would have expired.
Where is the experts...LOL

Surely if you are going to southern Cyprus you will be leaving the Turkish part and will have to re-enter and get your visa there?

I went from Mersin to Turkish Cyprus some years ago and vaguely remember that I had to have my passport stamped in and out, and I think I had to pay a small amount, even though I had a current Turkish Visa. I think that you're probably on dodgy ground hoping to renew a 3 month Tourist visa this way.

I would check with the relevant website/s first e.g. the link below.
http://www.northcyprusonline.com/No...ow-to-Visit.php

As you are leaving Turkey 'proper' and going to Northern Turkey you are not actually leaving Turkey, which is what you would be doing if you went to Greece/Bulgaria or anywhere else outside Turkey. I believe you could go to Southern Cyprus and then leave via Northern Cyprus but you may encounter a problem if your passport has a Greek stamp on it (some people ask them to stamp a piece of paper I believe upon departure from Southern Cyprus. I would enquire with the relevant Consulates before doing anything, unless another member has some experience of this.

Re: Renew Visa Via entry from Northern Cyprus

We went over in September and our passports were stamped on departure and entry from Antalya. They are also stamped on departure and entry in Northern Cyprus. We have Residents Permits but we noticed a number of people being told to return to the Visa Point on there return to Antalya I have read on another forum that a number of people do visit Northern Cyprus to get there Tourist Visa renewed. I suspect that you can do this as TRNC are not really part of Turkey despite what all of us may think.I think that your biggest problem may be the period that you spend in the south. You should investigate how long you are allowed to stay there before returning to the North and booking anything. Good Luck.

Re: Renew Visa Via entry from Northern Cyprus

The TRNC (TRNC) is not Turkey so when you get there they will just stamp you passport and ever give you a 30 day or 90 tourist visa - which costs nothing.

To be on the safe side fill in a visa form and get them to stamp that instead of your passport as you can get problems if you visit Greece or Greek Cyprus in the future with a TRNC stamp in you passport. The visa slip is available at passport control so just as the person for on.

On return to Turkey just pay you £10 visa stamp and you will get a new 3 month tourist visa issued.

Hi.

Yes, you can renew your visa by going to Northern Cyprus-people in Northern Cyprus also renew theirs by going to mainland Turkey. It may be 'Turkish' but it is a seperate entity. If travelling to N. Cyprus from the UK you don't pay any visa fee. You can travel through to South Cyprus if you have a UK passport but you can't hire a car in the North and drive there.
