turkish visa
Has anyone used a visa issued from the turkish embassy in london to gain entry into turkey and have you managed to convert into a residents' visa as they state,"take the paperwork to your local police station who will issue your blue book"!If you have not been successful what have you done about it?I was thinking of putting these points to the embassy in London and asking what comeback one had if you arrived in Turkey and the border or local police station refused to accept their paperwork.Has anyone tried this?Thankyou in anticipation. Keny.

Re: turkish visa
We came over on one of those and it is a complete waste of money (£75). You will do as well to arrive on a £10 tourist visa and then complete the paperwork for your residence permit. Yes, we did get our residence permit without any trouble.

Totally agree here, you are just wasting your money. At the top right you will see a search button, enter residents visa or permits and read and research from here.

Re: turkish visa
To everyone who has replied thankyou very much, and I certainly accept what you say.Can anyone comment on why the residents' visa from the turkish embassy was not recognised?I can't get my head around this. Keny.

Re: turkish visa
I have been re-reading the visa page of the Turkish Embassy in London. It claerlt states that all applications for 1 year residents' visa will be referred to the relevent turkish authorities for approval.I'm not sure who the relevent authorities are?For everyone that has gone through this process in London, when you gained approval for your application for a visa vetted obviously approved by thr relevent authorities why was it not accepted in Turkey?I mean if one gets an approval letter from the authorities in Turkey how can they refuse to acknowledge its validity?Surely you would have some come back with the turkish embassy in London???? Keny.

Re: turkish visa
I didn't say it wasn't accepted. We didn't have to pay the £10 on entry, we just showed our passports, complete with the residence visa and went straight through. What I did say was that we need not have gone to the expense of paying £75, we could just have come in on a £10 tourist visa, which a lot of people I know did, and still applied for a residence permit. The £75 visa was just not necessary. It is a 12 month visa, but you are advised to apply for the residence permit within one month of arrival. So, why pay £75 for a whole year??

Re: turkish visa
It's 6 of one and half a dozen of another if it's a 12 month resident visa. Think only difference is permit is smaller to cary around than passport. And at £75 per year is cheaper than resident permit.
